Prior to your case, the staff of CarePlex Orthopaedic Ambulatory Surgery Center will contact your insurer to verify benefits specific to your plan. You then will be contacted by our staff to resolve any issues or to inform you of any co-pays, co-insurance, or deductible which will be due on the day of surgery. In most cases, we should be able to estimate the cost of your surgery upfront, and our Business Office staff will help you finalize your financial arrangements before your surgery. Please arrive on the day of surgery prepared to meet any financial responsibility. Patients who do not have insurance coverage will be required to make a payment before the procedure is performed.

You will receive at least 3 separate bills for this surgical experience:
CarePlex Orthopaedic Ambulatory Surgery Center, LLC
- Facility fee for surgery center
- Includes charges for the operating room, recovery room, nursing care, supplies for surgery, and supplies for Anesthesia
Tidewater Orthopaedic Associates
- Surgeon’s fee for performing the surgery
Virginia Perioperative Care Specialists
- Anesthesiologist’s fee for providing anesthesia for the procedure
Our Business Office staff will bill all applicable insurances for the surgical services rendered at the surgery center. Once CarePlex Orthopaedic Ambulatory Surgery Center receives payment from the insurance company, we will bill you for any balance per the insurance EOB. It is very important that you review your copy of the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) that your insurance carrier sends you.
CarePlex Orthopaedic Ambulatory Surgery Center has a Charity Discount Policy designed for uninsured or underinsured patients who do not qualify for other governmental medical assistance programs. Patients can request information regarding this policy from our Business Office at (757) 736-4115.
